“Sometimes the snow comes down in June…” Snow during summer? That’s weird. This looks like a reverse of global warming but almost similar to our situation here. It’s summer but it’s always raining. And even during rainy season, the weather is still humid.

Hey guys,

Hope everything is going well. I just wanted to come in and comment that kitty litter and de-icers ARE great ways to help get your car unstuck from the snow and ice. I've been using them for years at the behest of my mother, and I must say they work wonders. Thankfully I've never been stuck bad enough to need a tow-truck or a winch, or maybe it's just because the kitty litter and de-icers work well enough to do the job themselves so long as you have enough of it. Keep some in the trunk of your car, the first time you get stuck and need to use it you'll be grateful it's there!

Wow, that's crazy! How often do you guys get snow in Australia period, not just in "the summer"? Are the winters there harsh or mild? I'm guessing since there are ski slopes there that there has to be at least moderate snowfall each year, I just never associated snowy winters with Australia...kind of weird to read about! Here in America, our winters can get rather frosty. I LOVE the snow though, and winter is probably my favorite season so I don't mind the drop in temperature. The only bad thing about the snow is having to drive in it or trying to get your car unstuck from it. If you ever find yourself in that position though there are a few things that can help. Surprisingly, kitty litter is really good at helping to give your car traction in the snow and ice. Keep a big bag of it in your trunk during the winter season and if you find yourself stuck in a rut or a snow bank, dig out some space in front of and behind all four of your tires -- then pour lots of kitty litter in and around the area. Now when you try to alternate between forward and reverse to get out, your car will be able to grip the terrain without sliding as much. De-icer products designed to melt snow from off of your windshield can be used directly on the snow around your tires as well. Also, if you have more than one vehicle (especially if one is a truck), it might not be a bad idea to get a winch. Here's a good article about winches if you are unfamiliar with them. Kitty litter and de-icers are a cheap and effective way to help reduce the difficulty of getting your car unstuck, but they can only do so much. For really bad snowstorms they might not be enough. Just a heads up for everyone out there. Have a safe upcoming winter!

That's kind of funny, because it's been in the upper 40s F for the last two weeks or so here (in WI USA). For those of you who don't know, we're (supposed to be) having winter here. :-)
